Shipping is free for all orders shipped to destinations within the United States, U.S. territories, and AP or AE destinations. We ship by Priority, Priority Flat Rate or First Class mail depending on the size and weight of the order, based on US Postal Service regulations. We ship all domestic orders within two business days, and typically ship within 24 hours of receiving your order. We do not accommodate requests for expedited shipping, overnight shipping or other carriers such as FedEx. Orders paid by check or money order are not shipped until we receive the payment.

Please note that it is not possible for us to guarantee delivery times. We are at the mercy of the US Postal Service, and the time that it takes them to deliver your shipment is unpredictable. We have seen a Priority Mail shipment take 10 days to travel from Colorado to California even though the USPS states that Priority Mail shipments "are delivered in an average of 2-3 days to any destination" (quoted from the USPS.com website).

We ship all large sheets of washi in mailing tubes. Because mailing tubes must be sorted by hand, the Postal Service typically takes longer to deliver these tubes than to deliver other pieces of mail. If you place an order for large sheets of washi and other items, you will receive a tube containing your washi and another package containing the remainder of your order. The tube typically arrives later than the other package.

If your shipping address is in an apartment complex, office building, university or college campus, etc. please provide as much additional information as you can, such as a company or business name, floor number, unit number, building name, room number, and/or suite. It is your responsibility to provide a complete and accurate shipping address. We ship to the address that you provide. If your shipment is lost and we determine that the address that you provided to us is incomplete or inaccurate, we will not replace your order or issue a refund. Please read your order confirmation email to verify your shipping address. Verifying the accuracy of your shipping address is your responsibility, not ours.

Shipping (outside the United States)

On May 14, 2007, the United States Postal Service made many changes to its fees and services for international shipping. As a result we changed our international shipping fees.

Note regarding PayPal: At this time PayPal payments do not correctly include the shippping fee for orders shipped outside of the United States. If you use PayPal for an international shipment, we will send you a PayPal Money Request for the shipping fee for your order. If we do not receive this payment within 48 hours after issuing the request, we will cancel your order and refund your payment. Alternatively, you may send the shipping fee to our PayPal address yourself. Our PayPal address is sales@paperjade.com. Your fee is shown on your order summary.

International shipping fees will now be based on the weight of your order. The total estimated weight of your order and associated fees are displayed during the checkout process when you select your shipping destination. The total cost of your order, including shipping fees, is displayed before you confirm and submit your order. Our shipping fees are calculated based both on the amount that we are charged by the U.S. Postal Service and the additional time and paperwork required for processing international orders.

Fees for shipments to Canada are as follows:

We accept orders from a limited number of other countries. Currently these countries are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom. Fees for shipments to these countries are as follows:

For international shipments, we ship by First Class Mail International if the size and weight of the parcel allows this shipping class; we ship by Priority Mail International or Priority Flat-Rate International if not. International shipments may take several weeks or longer to reach you. Large orders are more likely to take longer to arrive than small orders because your country's customs office is more likely to open, inspect, and detain a box with a substantial declared value than a padded envelope with a smaller declared value. In most instances we cannot provide tracking numbers for international shipments. If we are provided with a tracking number when we present your shipment to our Post Office, we will email the tracking number to you. If we do not email the tracking number to you it means that we do not have any tracking information available to us for your location and we have no means whatsoever of tracking your package once we send it. Your local post office is more able to answer any inquiries concerning the arrival, duties owed, and delivery of your package than we are.

For all orders shipped out of the United States, the recipient is responsible for any and all duties, import tariffs, taxes, etc. We are not responsible for loss or confiscation. By placing an order with us you assume all responsibility for the package. Please make sure you understand how your local post office handles deliveries of commercial merchandise sent from the United States before you place your order. You may be expected to ask for your package at your post office. If your package has not arrived within several weeks after you placed your order, ask your post office whether they are holding the package for you. Your postal carrier may not deliver packages for which duties are owed. We reiterate that your local post office is far more able to answer questions about these issues than we are.

Sending Gifts

Origami paper makes a lovely gift! If you would like your order sent as a gift, write a message to be included with your gift in the Comments section when placing your order. Please also mention that this is a gift order in the same section. We will include your message in the gift package. We will mail your invoice with the price information separately to your billing address, rather than to the gift recipient.

Sorry, but at this time we do not offer gift wrapping or gift certificates.

Returns

We will accept returns of unopened, undamaged packages of paper. (Large sheets of washi, which are not pre-packaged, must be returned in the same condition in which they were received.) Returns of items totaling $20 or more are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Items must be postmarked for return within 30 days of the date that you placed the order. Please package items securely before sending them back to us. We will not issue refunds for items damaged during shipment back to us, and we will not pay for the cost of shipping the items to us.

If you receive a damaged item from us, please contact us and we will send you a replacement. You must return the damaged item(s) to us. Items must be postmarked for return within 30 days of the date that you placed the order. We do not pay for the cost of shipping the item(s) back to us.
